A great day at the Flagstaff Community Market

We woke up at dawn and navigated towards the Falgstaff Community Market where we were greeted with open arms by a band of Zonies (Folks from Arizona. We parked and set up the bus, and to quote Field of Dreams, "If you build it, They will come." Host painting, interactive music, and bus tours children and adults participated in our journey. One woman even donated her unused vegetable old.

For our States of Change project Molly created a giant canvas of the United States and invited people at the market to paint their vision of a better world. My favorite drawing was a done by a 5 year old. He drew a road with plants cracking through the pavement, a vision of a future without roads.

The day was full of wonderment. I saw two women weaving dog hair into yarn. They said the dog hair makes great slippers and if you are going to wear it anyway you may as well like how it looks.

At one point levi initiated some improvised music which soon turned into a great parade around the market. With Aaron on guitar, Levi in the bongos, and a new addition, the pretty girl on the saw (you heard right, she played a saw with a bow), they created a wonderful melody and entertained the whole crowd.

I sure wish I could see some photos or video of this wonderous sounding parade. And I want to see dog hair slippers. How cool. Was there a loom? Was she spinning the wool? Any way is sounds like a really magical experience!
